The boys and I sneaked out of the house early this morning with my dad and headed to IHOP. We made a game of seeing if we could keep from waking up Daddy. (Which is not hard to do.) They loved the sneakiness aspect of it. And of course, the intense amount of sugar at breakfast. When we got back home at 10, I turned on some blasting loud music and sent them to the basement to dance away their energy.
One of the best things about getting away from the kids is that it leaves me in a “yes” mood. Don’t tell them, but I think I could say yes to anything today. Sometimes I think the “no” comes when I’m just tired of requests in general. And want to say no. Being apart from them intensifies their cuteness factor by 1000% as well. And recharges my patience supply.
All in all, a good thing – in small doses. Kind of like the pancakes I ordered this morning, which came stacked a mile high, covered with caramel and butterschotch chips and chopped pecans. (I only ate about a third of them.)
